# AI in Education: Are We Really Preparing Learners?

Artificial intelligence has quickly become part of our everyday lives. We use it to find information, solve problems, create content and complete tasks that, not so long ago, required considerably more time and effort.

But what does this mean for education?

Today's Learners are growing up in a world where technology is constantly changing the way people work and communicate. Many of the jobs they will eventually pursue may not even exist yet. So, while education continues to provide the knowledge needed today, it also needs to consider what will help young people succeed tomorrow.

At Brave Generation Academy, we believe education should prepare Learners for more than exams. It should give them the independence, confidence and practical skills to make their own decisions and find their place in the world. With AI changing so many aspects of everyday life, this has never been more relevant.

###### **The World Is Changing. Is Education Keeping Up?**

Artificial intelligence is already changing the workplace. Businesses are finding new ways to use technology, certain tasks are becoming automated and new roles are emerging.

According to the[World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025](https://www.weforum.org/publications/the-future-of-jobs-report-2025/), AI and big data are among the fastest-growing skills in demand. The report also identifies analytical thinking, creativity, resilience and technological literacy as important skills for the workforce.

For education, this presents a real challenge. If the workplace is changing, Learners need to be prepared for more than the jobs and requirements we know today.

Academic knowledge will always matter. However, knowing how to apply that knowledge, solve problems and adapt to unfamiliar situations is just as important.

This is something BGA places considerable emphasis on. Our learning model encourages Learners to take responsibility for their education, manage their own progress and develop the independence they will need outside the classroom.

After all, having access to information is one thing. Knowing what to do with it is another.

###### **AI Can Give You an Answer. But Can You Question It?**

One of the biggest changes AI brings to education is the way Learners access information.

Need an explanation of a difficult concept? AI can provide one in seconds. Looking for ideas for a project? It can help you get started. But there is a difference between using a tool to support your learning and relying on it to do the learning for you.

The[OECD Digital Education Outlook 2026](https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/oecd-digital-education-outlook-2026_062a7394-en.html) explores this issue, looking at both the opportunities and limitations of generative AI in education. The report highlights the importance of using AI to enrich learning without replacing independent thinking or the effort involved in developing knowledge.

This is why critical thinking matters.

Learners need to know how to question the information they receive, recognise when something is inaccurate and form their own opinions. They also need to understand when technology can help and when they should work through a problem independently.

At BGA, Learners are encouraged to take an active role in their education. Managing their learning, finding solutions and taking responsibility for their progress are all part of developing this independence.

AI can be a useful resource, but it should never become a substitute for thinking.

###### **What Skills Will Learners Actually Need?**

If artificial intelligence can already perform many tasks that once required specific technical knowledge, what will make people stand out in the workplace?

The answer is not necessarily knowing how to use every new tool. It is developing the skills to work with technology while bringing something uniquely human to the table.

The World Economic Forum's research identifies several skills expected to become increasingly important by 2030. These include analytical thinking, creative thinking, resilience, flexibility, technological literacy and curiosity.

But AI literacy is also becoming an important part of education. In June 2026, the[OECD and European Commission published Empowering Learners for the Age of AI](https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/empowering-learners-for-the-age-of-ai_65cd27d4-en.html), a framework designed to help primary and secondary education prepare young people to understand AI, evaluate its outputs and use it responsibly.

For Learners, five areas deserve particular attention:

**Critical thinking:** Being able to question information, recognise mistakes and make decisions based on more than the first answer available.

**Creativity:** Coming up with original ideas, looking at problems differently and finding new ways to approach challenges.

**Adaptability:** Being comfortable with change and willing to learn new things as technology and professional requirements evolve.

**Digital and AI literacy:** Understanding how technology works, how to use it responsibly and how to recognise its limitations.

**Communication and collaboration:** Knowing how to share ideas, work with others and contribute to a team.

These skills are not new, and they are not only relevant because of AI. They have always been important. What is changing is how essential they are becoming.

At BGA, developing these abilities is part of a broader approach to education. Learning should not be limited to completing academic requirements; it should also give Learners opportunities to become more independent, communicate effectively and put their knowledge into practice.

###### **Does Everyone Need to Learn in the Same Way?**

AI is also opening up new possibilities for personalised learning. Learners can access different explanations, explore subjects in greater depth and find additional resources that suit their needs.

The[UNESCO Guidance for Generative AI in Education and Research](https://www.unesco.org/en/articles/guidance-generative-ai-education-and-research) explores how AI can support teaching and learning, while emphasising the importance of keeping people at the centre of educational decisions.

But personalisation in education goes beyond technology.

Not every Learner has the same interests, ambitions or routine. Some are passionate about sport, others about music, business or creative projects. Their education should allow them to pursue these interests without having to put their academic development on hold.

This is one of the reasons BGA's flexible learning model is so important.

By giving Learners greater control over their schedules and learning journeys, BGA allows them to take a more active role in their education. They can organise their work, manage their responsibilities and make time for the things they want to pursue outside their studies.

This flexibility also encourages an important skill: learning to manage your own time and take responsibility for your decisions.

Technology can support this process, but the focus remains on the Learner and their individual journey.

###### **Preparing for a Future We Can't Predict**

Nobody knows exactly what the world will look like in ten or fifteen years. Artificial intelligence will continue to develop, industries will change and new opportunities will emerge.

Trying to prepare Learners for every possible scenario would be impossible. What education can do, however, is help them become comfortable with learning, adapting and figuring things out along the way.

At Brave Generation Academy, we believe that is what education should be about. Giving Learners the academic foundations they need while helping them develop the independence, skills and confidence to pursue their own ambitions.

AI will change the way we work and learn. But the ability to think for ourselves, make decisions and keep learning will remain important.

**The future may be difficult to predict, but preparing for it starts with the education we provide today.**
